We are an apostolic church because we confess Jesus Christ and the faith of the apostles as recorded in the Holy Scriptures. We are a catholic church, part of the universal Church that has existed from the days of the apostles until now. We are a reformation church, coming out of the Protestant Reformation and believing we are justified by faith alone. We are an evangelical church that rose from the religious awakenings of the 19th century in Europe and America. Central Covenant Affirmations Centrality of the Word of God: We view the Old and the New Testaments as the authoritative Word of God and the only perfect rule for faith, doctrine and conduct. Necessity of the new birth: As an evangelical church we proclaim that new birth in Jesus Christ is essential. Each of us needs to turn with repentance and faith from sin to God. God causes transformation and gives eternal life to those who believe. A commitment to the whole mission of the Church: All believers are called to "love the Lord your God" and to "love your neighbor as yourself," to reach across boundaries of race, ethnicity, culture, gender, age and status with the good news of Christ. The church as a fellowship of believers: The Church is a grace filled fellowship of believers sharing in the mission of Christ. We are congregational and also connected to the wider Church. A conscious dependence on the Holy Spirit: We affirm that the Holy Spirit sustains the creative work of the Father and the redeeming work of the Son within individuals and within the life of the church. The reality of freedom in Christ: We seek to focus
on what unites followers of Jesus Christ rather than what separates them.
Our "doctrinal statement" is the whole of Scripture.
