Worship at Rochester Covenant Church
Our philosophy statement – adopted April 2001 at a congregational
meeting
In worship we respond to God through the offering of our lives, thoughts
and minds, time, possessions and talents. God's invitation to be His children
and command to worship Him draws us into deeper communion with Him, both
individually and as a church family. The expressions of worship are multifaceted
and may include:
-
· Lamenting before God and acknowledging our brokenness and sinful
nature
-
· Repenting of our sins
-
· Rejoicing and praising God for who He is and what He has done
for us
-
· Awe-inspired reverence
-
· Honoring God in our humility before Him
-
· A resting place where we can find peace and healing
-
· Quietly listening for God's voice and direction
-
· Praying for one another
At Rochester Covenant Church we believe in character-transforming worship
which focuses on God and not self. We use a broad spectrum of styles to
support the content and substance of worship. The gifts and talents God
has placed among us determine our worship leadership. We strive for the
highest quality we are capable of through thorough preparation. We believe
that the ministry of Word and sacrament and our expressions of praise and
adoration are inherently evangelistic as we experience God's presence among
us.

Our Vision
The vision of Rochester Covenant Church's Informal Worship Service
is to glorify and honor the triune God. The participants of the service
shall attempt to nourish believers and draw non-believers to Christ in
a way that is relevant to our current culture through fellowship and active
participation in energetic, multi-sensory worship using Biblical teaching,
quality music and drama.
Our Mission
The informal worship service is a ministry of Rochester Covenant Church
intended to reach out to believers and non-believers in a format that broadens
the scope of the larger body of Rochester Covenant Church. It is
expected that every worshiper will worship in spirit and in truth and to
love the Lord their God with all their heart, soul and mind. The
informal worship goes beyond the scope of our emotions and is intended
to draw us into a deeper and more meaningful relationship to God.
It is also expected that each believer will be active participants in this
process by using the gifts and talents that God has given them with an
attitude of humility, commitment and sacrifice.
