Herb Frost
Lead Pastor

Pastor Herb Frost accepted a call to minister at Rochester Covenant Church in December of 2010.  Herb and his wife Paula came to us from Rhode Island and previously from Castle Rock, Colorado where in 1999 they planted Castle Oaks Covenant Church. He has a Master of Divinity degree from Michigan Theological Seminary, and is ordained in the Evangelical Covenant Church.

Formerly a research chemist/polymer scientist, in the mid 1990s the call to full-time ministry led him out of scientific work into ministry in the local church. Herb had also previously served on the staff of The Navigators in discipleship ministry. Herb is passionate about depth in Christ and the compassionate expression of Christ’s love in local and global ministry. Herb is a gifted leader and teacher with a shepherd's heart.

The Frost’s three young adult children (Robin, Brad and Peter) are friends, partners in ministry and a real joy to their hearts. He loves reading, the camaraderie of playing and coaching sports, and outdoor activities. In his spare time he is found woodworking, reading or on a walk with Paula.

  Derek Mueller
 Pastor of Student Ministries

As Pastor of Student Ministries, Derek is responsible for youth and their families grades 6-12.  Derek has been married to his wife, Regan, since 2003.  Together, they have 3 children, Justus, Evelyn and Selah.  Prior to being at RCC, Derek was on staff at Crossfire Youth Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin for 6 years working with underprivileged teenagers.  Derek enjoys being outside with his family, going for bike rides, playing in the yard, and grilling out. He likes playing softball and cheering for the Twins.

Most of all, Derek has a heart that desires above all to beat for Jesus. His first great passion for ministry is to help students have real and powerful encounters with Christ so that their lives would be transformed into His likeness. His second great passion in ministry is to train students to go out and do ministry themselves in their homes, schools, and city.

 Paula Frost
Interim Director of Children's Ministries

Paula Frost loves to talk!  She received a degree in speech communication, honing the art of oral interpretation of literature. Paula is a natural communicator and speaks at churches, women’s retreats, youth groups and children’s camps. Together with her husband, Herb, Paula discipled college students for ten years, serving on the staff of the Navigators and planted a church in the Covenant denomination.  There she served as Children’s Pastor for over eight years.  Paula has worked closely with Renovare, Richard Foster’s international organization, developing curriculum for children to both explore the Scriptures and experience life with Jesus.  She is currently directing Renovare’s efforts in launching a children’s ministry, called Stepping Stones.

At one time a professional storyteller, for more than a decade Paula has poured herself into making the Scriptures come alive for children.  Paula writes much of the curriculum she teaches. Her past publications include numerous lessons for children, published through David C. Cook and materials on evangelism and discipleship for adults.

Paula will complete her training from North Park Theological Seminary as a certified Spiritual Director in July of 2011 and is taking classes toward her Master’s Degree in Christian Formation, also at North Park Seminary.

The Frosts have three fantastic young adult children.
